Command Your Own Ship

Hello dear readers,

In this rather long article, I want to talk about something that occupies my mind all the time: actions, and the consequences of those actions.

Is it right to do and write whatever you desire, simply because it is allowed or not being properly controlled? Do we really need a judge, an admin, or a moderator just to behave like normal human beings? If we require constant policing to act right, then we are already prisoners—even if we arent behind bars.
Like anyone else, I enjoy receiving votes and likes on what I write. But there is something much more important called self-esteem. People who know me well know this truth: I do not care which way the stream is flowing. I will swim and walk my own path, even when it means going directly against the current.

I am not a saint, and I am not a god. I make my own mistakes. But whenever I notice them, I make it a point to apologize and correct my wrong behavior.

It would be incredibly easy for me to write and behave in a way that makes me the most popular person in the room. But when a community is heading in the wrong direction, that is when the true colors of people are revealed. It is when everyone mistakenly blames you for standing against the majority, and only patience and endurance can save you from the loneliness and the feeling of going crazy.

For me, being able to sleep with a clean conscience at the end of the day is worth infinitely more than the admiration and applause of supporting a wrong, but common, belief. I have paid a heavy price for this in the past, and I will keep paying whatever it takes.

My advice to the people who had the patience to read until the end of this article and who agree with its core concept is this:

Never let others decide how you think. You only live this life once. Value your own way of thinking, even if it is completely misunderstood by the majority. Be yourself, and command your own ship in this wild sea!
